FAQS
How does the new Course Rating Minus Par WHS system effect me?
How do I get a handicap?
If you have an existing handicap with another club you can still be a member of SGMCs as an 'away' member or request to change your home club to Stonelees via England Golf’s WHS. If you have had a previous handicap but its lapsed you should have a CDH number which means we can re-activate your previous handicap. If you have never had a handicap before then you will need to submit the scores for 54 holes (e.g. 3 x 18 hole rounds on our Heights course) which need to be marked by a member of SGMCs. Our secretary will arrange an induction meeting with you to guide you through this process.
I don’t know anyone in the club yet, how do I arrange a game?
The secretary will add you to the Facebook group which is a closed group and a great place to ask any questions you have, and to see if anyone wants to have a game.
What are the Club rules?
You can have a look at the Men’s Club constitution here.
What is the World Handicap System?
England Golf has introduced the world handicap system, which means your handicap will be different at different courses, more information and details of their My EG Golf app can be seen via their website here. There is also a useful FAQs document viewable here about the WHS.
Do I have to be a Stonelees Golf Centre member (Birdie, Eagle, Albatross, Centre etc) to be a member of the Stonelees Golf Members Club?
You do not! You can be a member of one or both. If you find you are playing regularly, it can be beneficial to you economically to also join one of Stonelees Golf Centre’s full or discounted golf memberships.
When are competitions played?
The full calendar for 2024 can be seen here - Men’s and here for Women’s
Where are competitions played?
Most of the competitions are played twice round the Heights course, from different tee positions.
Here is some more information on the competition formats.
How does the club communicate to it’s members?
There is a Facebook group which is really useful if you have any questions, need to organise a game, want to know what is happening and when, its also a great place for sharing photos and being social. Its a closed group so your request to join will be approved by the admin team. The Women’s club also adds you to the Whatsapp group upon joining.
